Problemas con el módulo de Nvidia al iniciar KDM (KDE)

Buenas, hace unos días instalé el driver de NVIDIA. Todo funcionaba
correctamente, el problema surgió al reiniciar la máquina, pues el entorno
gráfico (kdm en mi caso) no arrancaba. El log de kdm (/var/log/kdm.log)
apunta el siguiente:

El problema se soluciona haciendo el siguiente:


   - sudo /etc/init.d/kdm stop
   - sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.11-pkg1.run
   - sudo /etc/init.d/kdm start

Se inicia KDE de forma correcta y en el log de kdm aparece el siguiente

The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:

Modelo de gráfica: NVIDIA GForce FX 5900XT
Núcleo: 2.6.20-16-generic


El problema es que tengo que ejecutar el procedimento descrito cada vez que
reinicio el equipo y es algo engorroso. ¿ Alguna idea ?
