Instalación de eclipse

La mejor manera de instalarlo es descomprimir directamente el archivo de
la página oficial, ahora lo de los VM puede ser que no tengas instalado
el java SDK y/o no lo hayas configurado dentro de Eclipse.

..en Windows --> Preferences --> Java --> Installed JREs, asegurate de
tener direccionado hacia el j2sdk correcto.
