Era eso, ahora ya bootea (casi) sin errores.

El ifconfig de ahora me dice:

Lo que no encuentro es dónde configurar ppp. Ya que tengo adsl de speedy
y requiere usuario y contraseña para tener servicio.

en el caso de mandrake, el ifconfig me muestra también una interfaz ppp0
de esta manera:
