Primero

'sudo cdrecord -checkdrive driveropts=help
dev=/dev/hdc'

Luego, si tu quemador lo soporta, intenta con

sudo nice --18 cdrecord -v -eject -dao speed=24
driveropts=burnfree dev=/dev/hdb nombre_d_archivo.iso

Me funciona en Hoary con un CD-RW CW4802 OPTORITE.
