Also this is an Ubuntu mailing list ,but i stongly recommend that you try different distros your self <br>try Mandriva 2008.1 spring it's a normal 700 MB cd and has every thing working out of the box (so they say) <br>

i know, but one of the problems is not actually a bug and i don't know
what to do about it. i've got an ide dvd-rw and i can't get dma enabled
on it. i did everything, tried every possible order of modules in
/etc/modules and rebooted in the process like a million times in one
night to test it and i'm still getting nowhere...<br>
i heard that dma is working out of the box with other linux distros, i
don't know why is it disabled on ubuntu by default. burning discs is
impossible without it. i'm going to try fedora and opensuse till these
issues are taken care of.. downloading fedora 9 now.. it's a 3.3 GB dvd
