I need VMware on Ubuntu

Afaik VBox can read vmdk files (virtual disks) .. You just need to create a
new machine in vbox, instruct it to reuse the same vmdk files that came with
your vmware vm. The VMX file is not needed. VMware is not a free product
(vmware player is though)
