I would setup something like Dan's Guardian as a web filter. You would
set that up between the cable modem and the rest of your network.

I am happy to give advice when I can. If I was close enough I would
offer to come and assist. You may also want to find out if there is a
local Linux user group in the area. They may be able to offer some
hands-on assistance as well.
