linux friendly certificate printing website?

Greetings,

I'm trying to help a teacher print a certificate using a java app at this website:

The app seems to work until the time comes to actually print.  Then nothing happens.  The site says nothing about OS compatibility other than mentioning that older versions of Mac 9.x will not work.  I wonder if, despite the alleged cross-platform compatibility of Java, if the app is trying to hook into some windows printing system.
 
Does anyone have any experience with printing from java applets with Ubuntu?  Does it work?
 
Or does anyone know of a good site for educational certificates appropriate for elementary students?
