Hi,

I am a new list member in Massachusetts, U.S.

I am working with the local middle school, 7th grade, science teacher to set up an Edubuntu 6.10 LTSP network for the students to use.

So far I have a server and multiple thin clients working well.

I am looking for information on using a USB based device with a Windows software from Linux on the server first and then independently on EACH of the thin clients.

The device is the PASCO "Xplorer Pasport" and the software is called "DataStudio". The device is used via USB to allow students to make physical measurements such as temperature and log these to the computer using the software in Windows.
I have tried to use WINE and found that I could install and operate the Windows software. The Linux system seems to recognize the Pasport when it is connected to the USB port. However, I have not been able to determine how to communicate with the device on the USB port from the DataStudio software.

ANY suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

Jim
