Problem in Firefox Browser

I'm not sure I understand your problem. Are you saying that anytime you click a link Firefox closes?
 
If this is the case, then there is a very serious problem with Firefox, and I wouldn't know where to begin fixing it.
 
If this is not the case, I'd need the problem explained with some more detail in order to begin to understand it.

I am a new convert to Linux and I am using ubuntu 5.0 and have a new copy
version enroute to me but this problem I am tryiing to resolve.

The problem with Firefox browser is when you go say into a website or click
on a link it throws one out of the site your at such as Yahoo's email area.
Once clicked on the email it immediately exits out of the Browser mode.

Is there a setup or preference that is checked or set that I may not be
aware of that needs to be changed that I can do to make this right so it
does not do this further.?
