Hello all,
Several people have been busy since the Alpha 5 release, and made good
progress on the ec2 images deliverable. I've uploaded and registered a
nightly build from the September 10th [1] to amazon, and would like to
have people test it. That will give us a window to find and squash some
more bugs before the Alpha 6 release next Thursday the 17th.

The big changes since the Alpha 5 release are:
 * ec2 images now have a karmic kernel! (bug 418130)
Thanks to John Johansen and Chuck Short, we've now got a 2.6.31
kernel with all the karmic goodness.
 * no longer are you required to pass '--user-data' (bug 419306)

Please give these images a test. They can be started with:
 i386 : ec2-run-instances -k ${EC2_KEYPAIR} -t m1.small ami-a40fefcd
 x86_64 : ec2-run-instances -k ${EC2_KEYPAIR} -t m1.large ami-a20fefcb

Note:
The i386 build does have a known issue right now described at
  bug 427288.
