[ec2] Memory allocation on 32 bit images

Hi all,

I'm using EC2 to run some data analysis, and was doing some things on
a 32-bit using an older (a few months now!) alestic intrepid build. I
was having a process crash out, perhaps due to memory allocation
failure.

Does that 32-bit kernel (and the ubuntu ec2 32 bit kernels in general)
lack the ability to allocate up to the 4GB of ram that (I think) you
can get with some of the "high memory" kernel extensions?

My process consumes a total of about 3 GB, so it'll work inside a 4GB
limit... I may just shift to the 64-bit, but would like to know about
allocation on 32-bit systems as well.

Thanks,
Dav
