They way it is set-up there is that no-one knows if anyone else has done a thing so a lot of things get done 2 or 3 times by different people. For example, if a mail has been blocked and really is spam then 2 or 3 moderators might take the action to make sure that no-one else accidentally lets it get through to the lists. If it wasn't spam then 2 or 3 people might accept it to let it through. It's not that duplicates then appear on the mailing list just that 1 or 2 of those people could have been doing something else. Also there doesn't seem to be an easy way for the moderators to communicate with each other. If a non-english message gets to the list then i don't even know if it's possible to re-route it to the
right list so i just let it through and then try to deal with it after it has reached the wrong list. If it's non-English it's difficult for some people to tell if it's spam or not. I tend to have "Quick Translate" so it's just a couple of clicks for me.

So i am not sure if mlmmj is better than a web-based interface or not as i have used used the web-based ones. Hopefully the web-based one makes it easier to collaborate with other moderators? Hopefully if moderating more than 1 list then it gets easier?

Like i said it might well be that LibreOffice just has weird settings or that it's suffering from user-error from my end. Perhaps it's that "the grass is always greener on the other side" (ie my neighbours lawn always looks better than my own)

In some ways it might be better to change the system before anyone new gets into bad habits but in other ways it might be better to have a few
people learn the current system before thinking about changing it? I never know which way around is better for a given scenario.
Regards from
Tom :)

I am willing to help but why have admins use a web interface when it can be easily administered via an email. someone should really check out mlmmj it makes administering the lists a hell of a lot easier and all done by email.
Dear all,

We have four administrators of the mailing list, but none of them are
active contributors to the team or the mailing list, so it would be
good to get some new administrators.

Mailing list administration is pretty easy, the web interface is
pretty self-explanatory. The main job is really just to process
pending requests from people posting to the list who are not
subscribed - those emails get held in a queue. 95% of them are spam,
but occasionally there are emails which need to be approved.

Is anyone willing to take this on?
