I am following up on David's email to emphasize the importance of his request. Ubuntu-docs not being ready by the docs freeze significantly impacts our project to help ensure that key parts of Ubuntu are translated into Chinese/S for mainland China. The schedule was already very tight: After docs freeze there is a translation phase and then a review phase. Given the size of docs (more than 53,000 words) there was already not enough time to complete this work by 12.04 release date and so we have planned to release language packs containing this work soon thereafter. Given the freeze exception, that already difficult schedule is not achievable and therefore I need to think of how to accommodate things. The best idea is to start translating the parts of ubuntu docs that ARE frozen and then add the other parts later. Therefore: Can you please identify the .page files that ARE done and will not change so that we can move forward with this modified approach? I need this information this week (by 23 Mar) or I will need to make another plan. One area in which the help from the docs team would be extremely useful is in pointing out, even if roughly, to: - Which documentation pages are most likely to remain unchanged (e.g. the GNOME documentation pages) - Which documentation pages are most likely to be modified - Which documentation pages are going to be newly written (e.g. unity-*.page, etc.) I am aware of the work Jeremy Bicha and others have started on the documentation TODO list [2], but if we could get a somewhat more concrete overview in the form pointed above, it would be really useful for us, so that we can better schedule the work for this project.
