Phil, I would like to apply for the position of Editor. I am currently the IT manager for a national (US) company. One of my goals is to strive for perfection and completeness in every detail. I am always working with my team to ensure that nothing slips through the cracks. When it comes to writing, I believe in accuracy, precision, clarity, and brevity. You'll also need to attend a weekly IRC meeting, though it shouldn't matter if you miss one or two. If you don't think you'll be able to spare enough time, please consider not applying for this - there are plenty of other documentation tasks that need doing which offer a much more flexible schedule. I should probably list a few reasons why you might like to commit to a voluntary project like this: * Wonderful experience, if you're into technical writing, editing or publishing; definitely something for the CV/resume! * You get to hone your technical and teamworking skills. * You get your name on a document with a potential audience of several *million* people worldwide, which may be translated into tens of languages. * You get to spread the Ubuntu love far and wide - installation is a *major* issue for users, so it's important that we make a good job of this. * I reckon it'll get on Slashdot or Digg when we've finished, which should be interesting... * Fun!
