Hi Christophe,
since in your particular case you have the need to add files (for a new
translation) you need to add the (new) folder and relevant files prior to
the commit.

Be a bit careful to just add the relevant files (and not any backup or temp
files like "something.xml~".
Hence in case you do a recursive 'add' of your new fr folder do a --dry-run
first to see what will happen or explicitly specify your files and folder.
I admit that we should add a quick comment on this to the wiki page, too ...
