We are going to accomplish a stable release update (SRU) of the desktop
guide for Ubuntu 16.04. One reason is the very late name change from
"Software" to "Ubuntu Software". Also, since our work with the 16.04
desktop guide started far too late, we want to backport a few bug fixes.
This means that ubuntu-docs is again open for Xenial contents changes,
but not very long. The "doc string freeze" for this SRU is
* Thursday 26 May
Then it will be passed to the translators.
Needless to say, everyone is much welcome to take this opportunity to
help improve the 16.04 desktop guide a bit.
So, what can be done? Fixing open bugs is one thing. These are a few bug
reports which I personally find extra tricky, since I don't know the
topics well:
https://launchpad.net/bugs/1537551 (wireless)
https://launchpad.net/bugs/1563511 (Moonlight)
https://launchpad.net/bugs/1568984 (Flash)
Fixing them will probably require some research and consultation with
the desktop team. If some progress can be made before the 26th, it's
great. In any case my request for help with these issues remains also
after the 26th.
In general we should focus on things which might mislead the users. For
this SRU, out of consideration for the translators, we should not
correct spelling errors or move commas.
