Proofreading

Hello,
Because I want to become more active in the docs team, I have followed 
the instructions on [1] and started proofreading. If I find errors, I 
will have to commit and push my changes to the branch (no problem) and 
propose them for merging (I haven't done this before, but I will follow 
the instructions).
As for the proofreading I have started, I have a question on the 
following: is it allowed to use the word "apps" instead of 
"applications"? Example: see page unity-launcher-shapes.html.
