It is possible that Igor is not a native English speaker and doesn't
realise quite what he said nor how unnecessarily insulting he was. He
might have some personality disorder or just be socially awkward, perhaps a
little afraid as posting to a mailing list can be quite intimidating.
Alternatively it might be a cultural thing where he doesn't quite know how
to "pitch an idea" so that people take notice of it. Some cultures are
only polite to people they dislike and only use insulting language to their
best and closest friends.
Also it seems difficult for some people to understand that they can join in
and correct things themselves. That fixing it themselves is often easier
than trying to explain the problem to a bunch of strangers.
Errr, i hope i haven't accidentally caused offence. I'm often quite
socially awkward myself.
