+1 for SB's suggestion, but Doug might have a comment on forced Wiki
links which I will have to check again.
My initial reaction to LG's considered analysis is that a general rule
is easy to follow for the writer of the page, but may not always be
appropriate. For example if you write an Introduction the reader will be
encouraged to stay with it if there are no links. Equally if you are
defining a role there is a case for stating the activity and then
defining the requirements for that role. Further question does this
discussion relate to the wider question of "to whom is the page
directed"?. A lay or Newbie reader might be interested in the different
Documentation activities in a general way without any requirement to
specifically address the detail of how each activity addresses the
actual job. However, once one has moved on there is a very real need to
ensure that the reader has as much information available easily so that
one (he/she!) can decide for one'self which links to follow and when.
