Hi :)
Ahhh, that is good to hear. It's also good to hear about more modern
fora(? forii? forums??) such as AskUbuntu. I do really like the
UbuntuForums as there is a LOT of useful stuff tucked away in there. I
didn't realise it was a lone individual paying for the thing
"out-of-his-own-pocket". Top marks to him!!
Regards from
Tom :)

Hi :)
As others have pointed out there are support forums and
mailing lists that can spend more time on details.
This is a good one about Gnu&Linux in general
http://www.linuxquestions.org
For specifically Ubuntu the official (and OpenSource)
forum is at
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu
note that to ask a new question there is a green + sign
near the bottom of the 2nd (ish) box on the right-hand
side.
A popular forum (but privately owned, note the ".com"
instead of ".org" or whatever) for specifically Ubuntu is
http://ubuntuforums.org/
People tend to assume it's the official one for some
reason. Still, it is an excellent forum and very
popular. A good and friendly place to get answers for all
sorts of issues despite being moderated.
Hi,
you might to know that ubuntuforums used to be privately owned -
since 2007 it has been owned by Canonical, it is in fact the
Official Ubuntu Forum :)
"The Ubuntu Forums were created by Ryan Troy (ubuntu-geek) in
October 2004. The forums became a popular resource for Ubuntu and
were deemed the Official Ubuntu Forums in November 2004. The forums
hosting continued to be maintained and paid for by Ryan until March
2006, when Canonical graciously offered hosting for the forums. In
June of 2007 the forums domain, license and assets were transfered
to Canonical who is now the sole owner of the forums.
