Upcoming docs sessions at UDS

Hi All,

Tomorrow (Wednesday) we'll have a session on docs-team goals for 11.10 [0].
I'll be referencing the wiki page that we have put together, and will try to
define some specific goals, but part of the goal setting will have to wait
until UDS is over and we can all hammer out what we think we can really do.

On Thursday the group from Provonix is going to be in to demo their Drupal +
DITA project. I have no idea if their application will be good or bad, but I
hope that it is good. I know that we are using Mallard for our desktop help,
but they are interested in Mallard, too. Also, I know that DITA has some
downsides (the syntax is a little complex, and the toolchain isn't currently
packaged for Ubuntu), but it also has some upsides (support for conditional
text, a wide variety of supported outputs, fine-grained control of topic
ordering) that would be particularly relevant for stuff like server and
cloud help.

If their Drupal stuff can help abstract some of the complexity of DITA
authoring while still maintaining the advantages of the syntax and
toolchain, it might be good for us. They will not only be demo-ing it, but
will also be there to get input from Ubuntu folk to see what may be useful
for us, and will also be doing some hacking on it.

If you have any questions about it, please let me know. I'll let everyone
know the session time when it is scheduled.

Thanks, everyone,

Jim
