The idea that "Windows just works" is often held by people that have never
installed it.
To compare like with like we need to get linux pre-installed on machines in
retail outlets and sales-assistants that know facts rather than FUD. It is a
project that Cannonical and Ubuntu are making progress with.
Democracy is harder to understand than dictatorships. Free-markets are harder
to understand than market dominance.
However, when pre-installed, there is hardly any differences to point&click
users except for most of the advantages that linux brings.
