I agree that "session indicator" isn't very good, even if I used the
term myself a couple of days ago. OTOH, "power icon" isn't perfect
either, since the menu includes other items. What has "System Settings"
to do with "power"?

Is it necessary to name the thing? In the draft page I'm currently
working with I just wrote:
"the icon at the very right of the <em>top bar</em>"

Think that's well as clear guidance as both "session indicator" and
"power icon".
