Hi All,
I've made an initial commit of Unity-specific Natty documentation in
Launchpad. The branch is up at:
https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-doc/gnome-user-docs/natty-unity
Anyone who is in the ubuntu-doc-committers team can push to that branch. If
you're in the ubuntu-doc-contributors team, you can still pull the branch,
make updates, and then propose changes via a merge proposal.
If we decide that this is going in a good direction, we can just merge the
branch that I put up into the main natty branch that Matthew had been
maintaining.
As of right now, the topics are 95% related to Gnome and Gnome Shell, but
some of the topics will carry over reasonably well.
Here are a couple of notes:
- I've placed two ubuntu-specific images in the 'figures' directory, but
placed a number of other ubuntu-related screenshots in the figures/natty
directory. All of images will end up in the figures directory. I just
created the figures/natty directory as a placeholder so that the ubuntu
screenshots could be kept separate from the ones for Gnome.
- Feel free to use portions of the ubuntu-related screenshots if you need to
provide extra context for any particular feature. The 'shutter' application
is particularly helpful at grabbing small portions of an image.
Priorities:
- We'll need to focus on how to best structure the introduction sections. It
would probably be good to outline this in a gobby session or a wiki page.
- and then go through and refactor (either lightly or liberally) the user
help to be relevant to Unity.
It has been kind of a long day, so I'm going to stop here, but please post
any questions that you may have.
Thanks, all,
Jim
