publisher drop-in replacement

Hi :)

Windows has "Publisher" but surely linux has an equivalent if if it can't read
".pub" files? Does anyone know a package that works in a similar way or that
people will find more intuitive? Preferably a program that has been ported to
Windows but can produce generic output that can be used by a few different
packages in linux.

Does anyone know an easy way of converting publisher files (".pub") into
something usable on linux?

Publisher has an interesting way of allowing several text-boxes with formatted
text along with other boxes containing pictures or other types of elements. My
company has several leaflets, posters and stuff that have been translated (at
great expense) into some of the languages we need. I was thinking that it might
be easier to separate out all the different elements, port them to a gnu package
and then recombine them?

Sorry, i realise this is probably not really what this list is designed for but
people on this list are more likely to be experts or at least have bumped into
this problems before and there needs to be a way of getting around the ".pub"
blocker that people are generally aware of.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
