updating wiki

Hi :)

I think it is wise for pages to state which release they are written for,
especially if there is 'some' coding on the page. However i usually find that
only sundry petty changes need to be made, for example a coding line that
includes the word "dapper" might need to be edited to read "lucid" because Lucid
Lynx, the 10.04, is the latest LTS release.

Yes it would be 'nice' if someone with recent experience using those pages were
able to go through and make the tiny changes and then check that the advice
still works.

Obviously the dovecot wiki 'urgently' needs that update because more people
appear to be using encrypted partitions now = or is it still only recent Windows
converts that bother? Is there any chance of you doing the edit there Jonathon,
since you know the change that is needed but other people might not be so
familiar with that page?

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Zach thign is the wiki's need an overhaul in general imho as they have how to's
for release which have been EOL'ed ages ago.

also for instance there is no mention on the dovecot wiki that encrypted home
directories shouldnt be used. i have spent the last month trying to figure out
why im having email issues :(.

Would it be possible to develop some sort of game plan to update all wiki's and
how to's so they are up to date with more recent supported releases?

Depends upon the importance of the page and who edited it but sometimes pages
can be lost. I myself along with Phillw are part of the Ubuntu Doc team and
Ubuntu Doc/Wiki Admins team so we have a bit more of a responsibility look over
pages...if you're ever in doubt send an email to the list, join #ubuntu-doc on
