New to Ubuntu (was Ubuntu-docs Requirements?)

I'd suggest including a note that other software is available to perform
the same tasks and list some examples.  That way people who have used
Thunderbird in Windows (eg) can jump straight to using it in Ubuntu. 
Then refer to the section on adding apps.
