Transition to Mallard?

So one of my concerns of the moving to Mallard is that as a kubuntu-docs guy
I can still contribute to ubuntu-docs and vice versa, we share a common
heritage and use a similar design/etc. I think by switching to something
other then docbook and if KDE continues w/ docbook you will need to split
the teams up. One team will be ubuntu-docs working on docs w/ mallard, and
one team will be using docs in docbook. Will it require me to understand
and know two syntaxes? If so you are increasing the barrier to entry for
someone who would like to help out generaly and could conribute to both
kubuntu-docs and ubuntu-docs.
I'm afraid spliting like this would in fact split the team which is
something Matthew has argued so well against, and something I agree with him
on.
