Hi guys,
Thanks for volunteering!
I think the best way to proceed would be to do some prep work first;
this would consist of reading existing materials, like the relevant
sections of the Ubuntu manual [1] and the wiki [2]. You don't have to
read everything thoroughly, but I would recommend making notes of
anything interesting/insightful that you find. This exercise will get
you familiar with the current state of documentation in this area and
the sort of questions people are asking. Browsing the forums for
installation-related threads would also be useful.
It would also be a good idea to do a little background reading into
technical writing, especially if you haven't done this sort of thing
before. There are some useful tips here [3].
We can be quite relaxed with this, since we have plenty of time. After
the prep work, we would need to get started on planning the document,
which I think we should do during an IRC meeting.
Also, I think it might be a good idea to have a doc team person and a
manual team person to help you out, provide guidance, etc. I'm happy to
be the doc team person, but I'll be extremely busy until early June.
Let me know what you think of the "plan" above.
Thanks again,
Phil
