I don't really know the answer to this but I believe that the change
in the branding has not necessitated any changes to the trademark
policy (http://www.ubuntu.com/aboutus/trademarkpolicy). That doesn't
of course set out the copyright or license details of the logo, but I
believe that the use of the logo inside Ubuntu itself can't really be
objectionable and I don't see any reason not to go ahead with fixing
the bug. If we are in doubt then we can contact the trademark team at
Canonical but personally I'm comfortable with just going ahead and
fixing it.
