Yes, the idea is to sign up for the second one if you're interested in
helping out with the System Documentation. But, see below.

You certainly don't need to join any Launchpad team to start helping
out - you can just dive into whatever area interests you. We're aware
that the team structure on Launchpad is a bit confusing at the moment,
and we've been discussing how to improve that. I think you should wait
until we've implemented some improvements there, and then join the
applicable team.
Given your interest in games, you might be interested in working on
the section dedicated to games on the help wiki:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Games
That page is pretty long and untidy at the moment. One thing that
might be cool is to sort the different games into categories.
See for example the way it is done on the Italian wiki (you shouldn't
need to speak Italian to see the way it's done):
http://wiki.ubuntu-it.org/Giochi
The French wiki also sorts into categories, although it does it on one page:
http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/jeux
I think both of these work better than our wiki page so if you're
interested in improving the structure of that page and maybe adding
some more games that might be missing, that would be awesome.
See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WikiGuide for details on how to
contribute to the help wiki, and ask if you have any questions that
aren't answered there!
