error checking out branch

I asked on #bzr about this. Apparently "bzr checkout" doesn't
understand that our directory has a non-standard format. Try using bzr
branch instead, or specify the format first by creating a shared
repository (as described on the
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DocumentationTeam/Repository page)
