You can already checkout the Gnome documentation using bzr here:
https://code.launchpad.net/~vcs-imports/gnome-user-docs/trunk
Any Ubuntu-specific changes should be contributed to the Ubuntu branch here:
https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-doc/gnome-user-docs/ubuntu-hardy
We don't have a branch for the development version of Ubuntu but
should have one shortly.
