I'm an Ubuntu user myself, but I think a good starting point for you

There you'll find a FAQ, a Wiki and plenty of documentation - for 6.06
too.

By the way, if you happen to be using Ubuntu 6.06 now, then you'll only
have to install the package kubuntu-desktop to have a full Kubuntu
installation at your service.
