In the FLOSS world there's a number of people who wax lyrical about
things like open source, but don't really muck in (BTW, I'm not
referring to Alan here).

That's fine, it's a choice they're allowed to make, and waxing lyrical
is a contribution of sorts, but you've chosen to start contributing in a
more practical way.  Thanks!
