Where I am at : We just started and I am in a recrutiment / training stage
On the Ubuntu forums you can find us here :
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=215
On irc #ubuntuforums-beginners
any and all are welcome to visit and comment in either location.
What I anticipate :
Our focus, surprise, is new users and as a forums team that means Absolute
beginners, and to some extent general assistance
I would like to address FAQ on the forums and increase the presence of the
Ubuntu wiki
I would like my team to contribute to the wiki
Thus we would be poised to help shuttle those nuggets from the forums ->
wiki and wiki -> forums
Would be nice to coordinate with any and all interested from the wiki team
:)
Oh ... In case you have not noticed .... No one reads the stickies lol

I thought I was mailing to the docs mailing list ..
I will re-post , address ? is it ubuntu-doc at lists.ubuntu.com
I agree with the time thing ...
But that is what I am saying
I am starting a "Beginners Team"
I anticipate a large and diverse group
Our focus is on new users, but I would like my team to contribute to
the
wiki
This kind of project would be perfect for my team as they are forums
based.
I also want to increase the visibility of the wiki on the forums ...
I wiki for the UDSF and find a post in the forums, as I suggested,
has
increased visibility of the UDSF and is well received :)

Hello,
Thanks for your feedback.
We've got exactly the same ideas.
Hidden treasures is the very correct description of it.
Some people give very useful feedback and/or links.
This information should go straight into the wiki.
I've also been thinking on some way to 'mark' threads.
Question is how but even more important : WHO.
Who has time to browse forums and tag threads.
And then somebody else has to put that info in the wiki.
It would be my dream but it requires lots of people and time.
Actually, we need some kind of workflow.
Tag threads, do follow-up, do follow-up of the follow-up work, etc.
:-)
Do post this ideas on the docs mailing list.
Actually, it should be crossposted as it requires some coördination.
The webforum has to be changed to allow this kind of tagging.
Unfortunately, I'm quite now so I can give you any names of people to
contact.
How to plan this ?
Geert

This topic is of interest to me at the moment. There is a lot of good
information in the forums, hidden treasures if you ask me.
Perhaps there would be a way to list or mark posts in the forums ?
One way of marking threads in the forums is with a post. Make a user
"ubuntu-docs"
Post in a thread something like :
Thank you <usre_name> for this excellent information. It would
be
nice to see Post # added to the wiki ...
then later search the forums for posts made be ubuntu-docs
transcribe the post
update (edit) the post marking it done
Or a list on the wiki ~ forums to transcribe ..
the first will give you more visibility on the forums.
Or some such ...
I think I may be able to recruit / train some of my Beginners team to
transcribe these how-to's. My team is forums based and active enough
on the
forums to see and transcribe
I am just starting my team and it would take some time to develop.
We are at #ubuntufourms-beginners

I browsed the help forums again today.
'It breaks my heart' to see to much good advice and tips being
written,
only not in the docs.
Can't we put up a sticky saying :
Found some usefull advice here and not in the docs ? Please help the
community and add it to our wiki.
Or something.
Dunno.
