Updating Community Docs ?

Hello.

I have joined the list because I want to update Community Docs and wanted
to follow the right protocol.
I have read the general guide to make sure I am following the correct
style.
Should I be alerting this list prior to making a change? - or previous
authors - or is that unecessary if they have subscribed to the page? What
is the general etiquette ?
