Why not move to phpBB from vbulletin?

Hi all,
I'm sure you have all heard this refrain before but still
anyways what is blocking us from moving to some open-source bulletin
from vbulletin? I know there would be pain but if you guys would take
down the forum for let's say 3-4 days (give some prior information in
all the child boards) & take it down, move as much data from vbulletin
to phpBB 3.0 (I know the final is still not out but still) & be up.
The other way would be to have another server & point to it as a
testing server or something (let's say for 2-3 months), tweaking,
upgrading, porting as much data as can be seen. Of course do forsee
the commercial side also, hard disk, (the data would be in tebibytes
(TiB) or pebibyte (PiB), the server, the technical expertise needed
for that & additional load on the forum admins, mods etc. It also
would be a good idea to use the upcoming Ubuntu server as everything
there also gets constantly tested.
Also it would be ideal for stress-testing as its surely going to hit
digg , slashdot etc. & everybody knows what that brings, overall
better for us in the long-term. I don't think vbulletin is ever gonna
be open-source & the kind of issues we users face so many times has
atleast made me less receptive to the forums.
Looking forward to comments, additions on this. Cheers !
