You bring up many useful ways that the documentation could be improved
(I'm not a major contributor myself, but your suggestions make sense
from the user perspective).  As far as dual booting goes, if there is
a problem, then in my opinion it's only that the CD doesn't come with
a guide for Windows users to help them feel at ease, and dual booting
isn't advertised as a feature on ubuntu.com.  However, since I started
using Ubuntu, the installer has been able to install a dual boot
system just fine, it's just that unless the user has reviewed a guide,
the process will be viewed with uncertainty.  I very strongly agree
that in this situation, documentation on the Windows side of the CD,
including screenshots and a complete walkthrough, are absolutely
necessary to coax some would-be users into diving in.  I was pretty
squeamish about dual booting before I actually tried it.
