New Launchpad quick-start guide

I'd like to continue this conversation.

I'm new to Launchpad and and have managed to set a page a Launchpad
homepage but now what?

I've tried to join a project (Ubuntu-Docs) but as it is moderated I
have to wait for activity. I see a few things on the page that I
wonder about.

1. Karma. I know what it is in a Buddhist sense but i think something
else is meant here. How does one get 'karma' and what is it used for?
2. What is Ubuntero? Mine says 'Yes', this means what?

Just the sort of newbie questions you might want to consider adding to
Launchpad quick-start guide?
