This is not actually a comment on David's patch, but rather on this
document in general: it's a very general document, and yet we have
different versions of it in the ubuntu and xubuntu directories, each
one of which has received some patches/updates recently.

Can we merge these versions and establish a neutral document in the
generic directory?
