Perhaps taking part in reviewing the docs would be a great way to
start helping.  Just a quick thought but I think reviewing is a good
way to get people interested in doc work started.  I started doing doc
work because Richard keep looking for reviewers.  Learning DocBook is
quite a task with the limited time we have and also for someone who
has limited time.  Reading and reviewing is much easier imho.
