Question on &printing; (and similar) variable

Hi to all!
I'm working on the italian translation of the desktopguide, and I found
a "&printing;" variable inside a string. Now, in the final english doc
it becomes "System -> Administration -> ...", but what happens in a
translated doc?

I see in the ubuntu-doc tree that there's a pot file (in ubuntu/menus/)
with all the tranlatable string for those variables, is that pot file
inside rosetta for translation?

If you have already talked about that, please let me know! :)
