Hi,
I'm really not good at these types of emails but, I love ubuntu and
am still very new with it. I want you to know this before I tell you the
rest. Just assume that I know little about UBUNTU but I love it. I
triple boot UBUNTU with winxp and Xandros3deluxe. I hate Xandros3deluxe
because I love to customize my system and they clamp on their desktop
tighter than Billy gates. I used LiteStep as my desktop on winxp with
ObjectDesktop (which by the way is a very nice product from Stardock. it
has fully matured and is where desktop customization must go. I only
wish that customizing the desktop were nearly as easy and powerful for
Gnome on UBUNTU). I'm holding on for DAPPER, I haven't used it yet but I
want to. I upgraded my graphics card to a GeForce 6600 GT because of its
power, features, and great price. I buy graphics cards when I can no
less than a year after it's release as a rule. Upgrading can be very
expensive, so I choose older technology, top rated for it's time, the
feature that support my games and OS desktop customizations, when it's
cheap enough. I'm studying GUI Interfaces, while preparing a tool for
customizing desktops dynamically.
Mostly, my thoughts are that the user interface customization should
include specific information such as: color control including brightness
and hue, desktop customizations? (like, creating/defining viewports?
like, tables?[if at all possible]). If it can be done with a simple
editing of a config file or can I simply pass a variable (to??). Or,
will I have to change something? (In the source?, [Or, am I dreaming?])
etc., etc...
Also, when I viewed the guide online there are some color issues
with dark color schemes. It does look like it is good for the default
color scheme for UBUNTU but it should not use so much graphics for
gradients. Try reducing the top of the page to a Logo graphic and use
(external CSS file, please) to reproduce the gradient and a layer for
the bar, making the bar a graphic (png), if necessary to get it to look
right over the gradient and under the Logo. Outline the graphic in a
color near (RGB 128, 128, 128). That should improve compatibility with
both light and dark schemes.
I hope that this is really the best guide ever :)
