There seems to be a copy of an installation guide on the install CD for
5.10, at least.

With the CD mounted at /media/cdrom0:

/media/cdrom0/doc/install/manual/en/index.html

The Table of Contents is headed

"Installing Ubuntu 5.10 "Breezy Badger" For i386"

Of course very few people would find or look for it, I guess ;-) I just
found it because I remembered that Debian CDs have these kinds of files on
them....
