Yes, yes, yeeeessss.
I think we really need something that says to new users "Hi, welcome to
your new Ubuntu system, here's a quick overview." Nothing says 'welcome'
like a friendly how-to quick-start guide, which starts itself and says
'we're here to help'.
It should start automatically. And that _should not_ rely on them having
an internet connection. If they have to sign into a cable-tv borne
network, they will have to learn how to configure their network before
they can even get online...
So, yes, let's please go in this direction.
