Hi all,
Corey "Burgundavia" Burger asked me to fill you all in on my Ubuntu Video
project.
Ubuntu Video (http://www.ubuntuvideo.com) is a video portal created to
gather the best Ubuntu related demos, tutorials, and testimonials from
online video hubs like YouTube and Google Video. I had a few goals in mind
when I created this site:
1. Demystify Linux - Many people still don't know that Linux has a GUI. Many
people still haven't even heard about Linux.
2. Myth busting - You know all the myths. That's why it's important to flood
the video hubs with stuff like Ubuntu gamer videos. Ubuntu is fun, easy to
use (most of the time), and beautiful but you can't tell people that. You
have to show them.
3. Energize the community - I want to see thousands of testimonials, demos,
and tutorials spreading across the web. It's important to have a hub like
Ubuntu Video where you showcase the best but it's just as important that
people can share and distribute the videos (post them in their blogs).
Hosting them on YouTube and Google makes that possible.
4. Spark discussion in the Ubuntu Team - I'm not new to Ubuntu but I haven't
formally contributed until recently. I don't know much about your internal
planning but I'd love to see a series of "official" demos and tutorials
created to support each release.
5. Technical support - Hopefully enough tutorials will be created to make
Ubuntu Video a reliable source for users seeking technical support for
particular features and applications.
6. Help address Bug #1 - Self-explanatory :)
That's about all I can think of now. If you have any questions or
suggestions let me know.
Regards,
John Little
