Not to mention that people who don't have a GUI installed most likely
are the type of user that knows what they're doing. Of course, there
may be an issue when someone is having a problem starting X and wants
to view the documentation, but I'm not sure if that is such a huge
problem for a couple of reasons. First, such a user likely won't know
much about CLI HTML viewers/web browsers anyway, making HTML docs
largely extraneous. Second, such a user is likely to either have
another computer with a different OS that he can use to access the
docs via the Internet or have a second OS on the one computer that he
can (and likely will) use.
That's not to say that this is optimal, but it's hard to change culture anyway.
Perhaps some project could be launched to have a command line reader
for the XML docs?
