question on disclaimer that ships with about ubuntu and about kubuntu

Here is the offending sentence:

"Names of products and trademarks and trade protection laws and may
thus fall under copyright restrictions"

The sentence makes no sense up to"and may..."

I read "between the lines" and removed the word "and" right before
"may" and hoped that was the intended meaning for it.
